Use of contraception (birth control pill, intrauterine devices, spermacide, condoms, chemical and surgical sterilization and abortion), once taboo by all major religions but now used in epidemic global proportions, is evidence that some have called "Dark Age" thinking about man and woman, meaning that we have not progressed beyond the primitive and enslaving idea that woman is property of man. This thinking actually originated with The Fall, however, long before that period in history that is commonly called the Dark Ages. In Genesis, Adam blamed Eve, Eve blamed the serpent, and God stated the obvious: there was a great rift between man and woman, and it continues to manifest itself to this day through abuse of fertility and problems with "the economy."
How, you might ask, is woman the property of man through the use of contraception, when such use frees her to do anything she wants with her body? Actually, contraception has freed MAN to do anything HE wants with women's bodies. First, the fertility cycle of woman is treated as a disease and not as a natural part of the way she is designed. There would be no need whatsoever of a woman's putting chemicals now known to cause cancer, blood clots, heart disease, depression, weight gain, etc., etc. into her body IF she had relations with a man who is committed to her for life through marriage and who does not see his sexual needs as paramount to all else: woman's cycle, woman's physical and emotional health, children's care, etc. Contraception allows for sex on demand, and sex on demand is no mark of manly maturity. Rather, sex on demand parallels milk on demand of the infant, only the infant is supposed to behave this way because he or she is an infant. Man is not.
Sex on demand is taking its toll on man another way, too. Abdicating his adult responsibility to regulate his sexual desires according to common sense and material, spiritual, and psychological resources causes him to also abdicate his responsibility to provide for a wife and children. It is impossible to deny that more and more women are supporting live-in men who are usually not even their husbands. Typically, such relationships deteriorate into more and more severe abuse, emotional and physical. Increasing numbers of "families" are on welfare because they can't make ends meet, and typically the men don't have the get up and go to find and keep good employment. Misuse of women and misuse of his sexual capacities plunge the man into deep self-loathing, which in turn causes him to lash out at all around him, especially the woman he has abused by the sex on demand relationship in the first place.
The irony of all ironies is that it's mostly women who become defensive and even hostile at the suggestion that they see contraception as a true enslavement of their bodies (and psyches) rather than a freedom. Women who have chosen the path of contraception are so protective of their decision that they are blind to the cause of their enslavement. Women victims of contraception in turn seek to "evangelize" other women victims, most tragically their own daughters, and this most vicious cycle continues to the peril of all.
It is only by a miracle of grace that a woman or a man comes to see the truth, but that miracle of grace is there for the asking, if only we will let go of our pride, admit we were fooled, and embrace the truth: feminine fertility is a gift, not a disease; sex on demand is not a healthy way of living for man or woman, and any form of birth regulation that claims that sex on demand is a freedom and a right is a hoax that only leads to deeper enslavement for all: man, woman, and child.
