To QuoterGal: Re Abortifacient Contraception

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, you are not alone in thinking my opinion is unfounded. I was unaware of this myself when I opted for abortifacient contraception, only meaning to space my children in the early 70's.

The truth is, at the moment of conception (fertilization), all human beings possess 46 chromosomes, and that reality never changes one iota from that moment, whether the human being lives for one second or one hundred years.

So, it is a human being, however tiny, that is aborted by forms of contraception, such as Norplant, Depo Provera, Plan B (Morning After Pill), IUD, Pill (especially low-dose), and any other form that is administered after fertilization.

Just because a baby cannot be seen by the naked eye doesn't change that it has the forty-six chromosomes that identify it as a human being. Even according to medical textbooks, life begins at conception (fertilization). In the case of Christians who use abortifacient contraception with the knowledge that "implantation" or "nidation" of the zygote to the lining of the mother's uterus could be impossible due to a "change" in the lining of the uterus, this could be Pharisaical, as we pretend to be pro-life when in fact, we are hypocrites, acting "as if" we are pro-life, appearing to be something we are, in fact, not. In the case of shepherds who know or who choose not to become knowledgeable, Pharisaicism of the worst kind could be practiced.

Even so, God is merciful when we approach him in humility, asking for forgiveness. This is the Good News.

  1. You need to review your basic biology.
    1. Not all humans have 46 chromosomes. People with Down's Syndrome have 47. People with Turner's syndrome have 45.
    2. Not everything with 46 chromosomes is "human". A tumour has 46 chromosomes, as do hares, black rats, and mountaian beavers.

I find it humorous that you are calling people hypocrites and telling them to become "knowlegeable" when the things that you write yourself are profoundly myopic and fallacious.
