Thanks be to God, there were no abortions at Planned Parenthood this Friday! One day longer, the little ones live. If only their mothers/fathers would stop and talk to us to know that we want to help them with their difficult situations. Of course, it will be difficult to carry a child that wasn't planned to term and then to raise it, but with God's help and with people of good will who want to help, it is possible to turn a scary situation into something good, to find the proverbial silver lining in the temporarily dark cloud.
On abortion days, we don't hold any kind of "I Regret" signs after the abortions have taken place. Instead, we have messages of God's mercy, and we give out packets of information for post-abortive healing from groups like Rachel's Vineyard or Project Rachel. Too many of us have been touched by abortion by now either directly or indirectly, and it has made us more compassionate towards the scared, abused, depressed, women who choose or are even often forced to go through with killing the child in their womb.
I wish one of us could give out a healing packet to the abortion doctor. He must be sick inside, though he is probably numb to it. No doubt that numbness wears out in some troubling way from time to time. Even for him, God would be merciful, even now after so many abortions.
Ufam Tobie!
