If only we humans understood that we are not merely "higher" animals, but human beings, created by God in His own image, we would realize that the processes of "spay-ing" (aka tubal ligation) and "neuter-ing" (aka vasectomy) are not fitting approaches to the gift of human sexuality or of being human at all. Neither are any temporary types of "spay-ing" ( Diaphragm.) or "neuter-ing" (aka spermicides, condoms).
If only we humans understood that we are not merely "higher" animals, we couldn't consent to killing our own offspring by abortion or abortifacient types of birth control (aka IUD, Norplant, Morning After Pill, etc. etc.. All of these act after conception has already taken place, after a life as tiny I was when I was conceived and had come into being in the secret recesses of my mother's body.
If only men knew that they are not merely a "higher" animal, but human beings, they would realize that thinking they have to act on the sexual impulse is nothing short of a bold-faced lie. They would use both reason and will to determine whether acting on sexual impulses is for the good of the other or not for the good of the other. They would realize self-control is possible and fitting!
If only women knew they they are not merely a "higher" animal, they would realize that birth control by way of any means other than self control (on part of both man and woman) only seems to give freedom, instead enslaving woman all the more to her own whims and to the whims of those men who have no intention of staying for the long term, for better or worse, for richer for poorer through something called marriage.
