Unplanned Pregnancy Problem Needs to Focus on Men!

All too often, the focus of unplanned pregnancy is on the woman: what she should and should not do; her rights;her options; her responsibility; her weakness; her prospects for a happy life; her crisis; her sinfulness.

By keeping the focus on the women, we avoid, to our peril, focus on the father and his part in relation to mother, baby, and society. We must place more of the focus of unplanned pregnancy on MEN, not women. This is not to say that male responsibility should be defined as use of prophylactics, however; rather, instead, it is to say that responsibility lies in being moral, in not engaging in sexual activity outside of marriage, in laying down one's own desires for the wife, mother, children, for the good of all.

Included in our Prayers of the Faithful, we should have the following one:
That men will become responsible moral leaders alongside women by saving sex for marriage and by being sexually mature through appropriate self-control, laying down their own lives for wife and children, so that children can be conceived and grow up in a more secure, safe, and Godly environment. Let us pray to the Lord!
